Kenneth Johnson Schultz

Kenneth J. Schultz, age 94, passed away on Monday, March 14, 2016, after a four year long battle with Alzheimer's. He was born on March 20, 1921, in Portage, Wis., to Arnold and Hansine (Johnson) Schultz. Kenneth enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Force serving four years during World War II from 1942 until 1946. He was a Corporal AAF, 47th Depot Repair Squadron, 47th Air Depot Group and an airplane and engine mechanic. Kenneth received decorations and citations including the Good Conduct Medal, American Theater Service Medal, European-African-Eastern Service Medal and Asiatic-Pacific Theater Service Medal. Upon his discharge from the service, he applied for a carpenter's apprenticeship with George Nelson & Son and later worked for the City of Madison Parks Division, where he retired from as a supervisor. Kenneth was an avid Packers and Badgers fan, loved to go hunting in the fall and best of all, his yearly trips to Las Vegas. He also was a Charter Member of the National World War II Museum. Kenneth is survived by his wife, Joan; daughter, Vicki (the late David) DuBois and grandsons, David and Lucas; daughter, Terry (Mark) Krajco and twin granddaughters, Cameron and Chandler; and son, Stephen Schultz and granddaughters, Hunter and Lexi. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Howard, Walter, George and Tom; and sister, Merna. Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Dr., Madison, at 11 a.m., on Saturday, March 19, 2016. Burial will be at Highland Memory Gardens.
