Richard E. Wagner

STOUGHTON-Richard E. Wagner, age 70, passed away on Thursday, March 10, 2016. He was born on March 2, 1946, in Dubuque, Iowa, the son of Lynn and Adeline (Schmitt) Wagner. Richard served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He married Gail Whitford Chadwick on Oct. 4, 1996. Richard worked for the City of Madison Streets Department until his retirement in 2002. He enjoyed woodworking, playing cards and being outdoors, especially watching birds and gardening. Richard had a passion for cars, and took pride in his '79 Monte Carlo. He was also a talented musician who loved to sing. Richard is survived by his wife, Gail; four children, Tammy Wagner (Tom), Cara Wagner Hillmer, Billy (Joy) Chadwick and Susan Chadwick (Mike); seven grandchildren; three great-grandchilden; siblings, Dale (Gloria), Lynn Jr. (Nida) and Joyce (Dick) Nelson; sisters-in-law, Vi (Jim) Taylor, Joyce (Gomer) Johnson, Karla, Leslie, Kaia and Edel; brothers-in-law, Kenny (Sharon) Whitford and Gene (Debbie) Whitford; many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends; and loving neighbor, Cathy Wenzell. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Janice (Ron) Scoville; brothers, Don and Jerry; parents-in-law, Windy and Helen Whitford; brother-in-law, Winston Whitford and sisters-in-law, Bonnie and Faith. A Celebration of Richard's Life will be held at The BALLROOM, 112 E. Cook St., Portage, beginning at 1 pm on Sun., April 10, 2016. Burial will be held at Highland Memory Gardens at a later date.
