Obituary

MADISON-Marilyn Blackley-Braund, age 50, of Madison, passed away on Saturday, March 12, 2016. With the chronic pain she endured for so many years, and the depression that follows someone in so much pain, it won out and she was taken from us way too early. Marilyn was born on May 13, 1965, the daughter of David and Janice Young. She was raised in the Portage/Madison area. Marilyn was married to Patrick Blackley, and Tiffany was born on Aug 16, 1984. On Nov. 13, 1992, she married a really great guy, Mark Braund. Mark brought into the marriage his daughter, Jessica and his son, David. Jessica blessed Marilyn with two twinkles in her eye, starting in 2008, a granddaughter, Madison, and in 2010, a grandson, Colin. In 2014, Tiffany gave birth to the third twinkle, a granddaughter, Abellene. In Marilyn's eyes and heart, her family was complete with three beautiful children and three beautiful grandchildren, and even though their time together was short, the memories were numerous and ever-lasting. She worked for the Madison School District Building Services for many years. Marilyn is survived by her husband, Mark; daughter, Tiffany (Ben) Werner of Green Bay; step-daughter, Jessica (Ryan) Flanagan of Beloit; step-son, David Braund (Leah Bruno) of Madison; grandchildren, Madison, Colin, and Abellene; her mother, Janice Young; and sisters, Annette (John) Schneider, and Cindy (Wes) Pinchot. She was preceded in death by her father, David Young. A memorial gathering will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Dr., Madison, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m., on Thursday, March 17, 2016. A graveside service will be held at ROCK LAKE CEMETERY, 369 W. Pine St., Lake Mills, WI, at 10 a.m., on Friday, March 18, 2016, with a luncheon to follow at DOOR CREEK GOLF COURSE, 4321 Vilas Rd., Cottage Grove, from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com. Among my colleagues, Marilyn was always known for her calm, everything's-under-control answers to telephone calls. While I was employed down the hall from her, we shared working evening hours and especially a Beach Boys CD that made us both smile. May your memories give you resources and reasons to grieve and honor her life in yours. JoAnn
