Obituary

Joshua Michael Strate joined his heavenly father on February 10, 2016. The son of Jackie Strate (Hough) of Cross Plains and Mike Strate of Boise, Idaho. He was born July 18, 1983 into a loving family of powerful faith. After a long struggle with his nemesis, he finally lost the battle. He finally found peace however, and is no longer in pain.  Josh had a magnetic attraction to all he met, just that kind of guy. He could sell a ketchup popsicle to a woman in white gloves. He had a charming wit and  hilarious personality. The room lit up when he walked in. Josh was an avid hunter and fisherman.  His stellar baseball/softball skills made many friends. He loved the game. But more than the game, he loved his family, especially his children. Kadynce, Calen, Gavin, Gage, Camden, Mason and soon to be Piper Ann.  Joshua is further survived by his father Mike (Lisa) Strate, mother Jackie Strate (Matt Olson), step-father Chad Tylinski.; his area brothers Jordan Strate (fiance' Tami Severson) and Jade Tylinski (Brook Frazier) and treasured niece Kaleigh Strate and nephew Karson Strate.  His Idaho family include Alyssa, Jason (Stefanie), Jeremy (Emily) and Amanda (Ty) Strate; grandmother Nancy (Del) Taylor of Arizona and grandfather Frank Hough of Idaho, along with numerous other family in Arizona, Idaho and Utah. Also, several very special ladies...Stephanie Goth of Oregon, Staci Hell of Watertown, and life-long friend Holly Nonn of Madison.  A gathering of family and friends will take place on Saturday, February 20, 2016 from 1:00 pm until 4:00 pm at the Cross Plains Legion Hall Post #245, 2217American Legion Drive, Cross Plains, WI.  The family would like to thank everyone for their continued support.  Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com.

To The Family of Josh: First of all please accept our deepest sympathy on the loss of Josh. Their are some things in life that you just can't forget because they are forever a memory. Josh brought me one of my greatest memories in my life at a very early age. At the age of 14 Josh and his great little knuckleball pitched us to the State Championship finals in 1997 in Superior Wisconsin. Josh was a player that really loved the game . He inspired me with his play and his desire to be the best. Josh was always a person who respected me and I always respected him. I remember having conversation with him when he was in high school because there was nothing I wanted more than to see him play ball. A true competitor who respected the game. I would have done anything for Josh because he did something for me that I will never forget, he and his team got me to my very first State Tournament as a Baseball Coach in Cross Plains. He always seemed to have his happiest moments when he was playing ball. I will never forget him I only wish I could have spent more time with him. Thank you Josh may God Bless you. Coach Jim Nonn PS: I am not sure if I can make it to the Gathering on Saturday as I am Coaching basketball at a year end tournament., but would love to share all the good times we had.
