I have so many fun memories of Mr. Gene, (Ol' Guerny) it's very hard to pick just one. As I look at this picture of him; to me it really reflects his peace, and the gentleness he shared with so many. He knew without a doubt that he belonged to Jesus, just look at his expression! Over the years I witnessed Gene pour "life" into so many people; from elementary through adults. He always had something witty to say or something very profound to share from scripture. He left a great legacy for many and will be deeply missed; but forever in our hearts. Our loss, Jesus' gain. To his family.... I pray you will find rest in the arms of Jesus . Love to you all, Mary B.

I worked with Gene at Madison Kipp for many years and did much traveling to vendors with Gene. Gene shared with me that his dad was in the Al Capone mob running booze during prohibition. At that time they just needed to have faster cars than the police. Gene also showed me a picture of his dad during that era; and dad had a sexy woman with him in the picture. I'll never forget Gene saying "the woman was NOT mom". Gene also taught me the correct pronunciation of "Italian" and scolded me when I pronounced it with a "hard" I. Also talked a lot of politics with Gene. He was a great guy. My deepest sympathy to the Camarata family. Don Macie..

Knew Gene back in the High School days in Waterloo. Met him and his brother, Bob, while their other brother, Jerry, was dating my sister, Rosemary for a couple years. As he and Jerry were in the same class, and in each other's company a fair amount of time, we (along with my bothers and sisters) got to spend time with him. He was a fast-wit, very funny, always kind-hearted to everyone; and someone very fun/nice to be around..good guy. Seeing his picture on this page...sad. Sometimes we don't think about how someone has affected our lives until a difficult time....someone very wise (my Mother) once said to the effect, "when someone passes; it is very hard to think about them without just sadness, the loss...tragedy. Eventually, after some time, when thinking of them (and this includes family) it is possible to smile as well."
Will keep your family in my prayers.

Jerry and Rob, I am so sorry for your loss. I remember lots of happy times with Gene when we were all teenagers. He was a uniquely sweet boy - always with a big grin on his face when I saw him. I hope he had a wonderful life. My sympathy to you and to Gene's wife and children.
