Walter, or "Lee" as he liked to be called, served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from 1949-1951. He was united in marriage to Betty Ann (Olson) Geary on Oct. 18, 1958. Lee worked for Reynolds Transfer and Storage from 1953 to 1992, when he retired. He will forever live in our memories as a good husband, father, grandfather and brother. Lee is survived by his three children, Leann (Rick) Winters of Sun Prairie, Kelly (Susan Rowin) Geary of De Forest and Keith Geary of Madison; two grandchildren, Gary Winters of Superior and Michael (Brittany Brown) Winters of Sun Prairie; two great-grandchildren, Jayce and Ava Winters; one brother, Lawrence (Margaret) Geary of Westport; and two sisters, Wanda (Marv) Jones and Edyth Geary; along with many nieces and nephews in Kaukauna. He was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Betty; his mother, Dorothy Karow; sister, Millie Welson of Kaukauna; nephew, Roger Jones; and niece, Rose Baumann. Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Dr., Madison, at 2 p.m., on Tuesday, March 1, 2016. Burial will take place at Highland Memory Gardens. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from noon until the time of the service on Tuesday. The family would like to give thanks to the caregivers, over time, and to the staff at Home Health United Hospice, for enabling him to remain at home with dignity during his final days. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to be donated to a charity of your choice. Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com.
