Denise, Our daughter, our sister, our friend She means so much to us in so many ways Even though the Lord has taken her so soon and so far away He made a new angel to look down on us So through her intercession we pray: Angel of God My guardian dear To Whom His love Commits me here Ever this day Be at my side To light and guard To rule and guide. Amen Love your sister, Patricia

Middleton has lost an icon. Everyone recognized Denise and her spirit, driving her chair about town as if she owned the world. I will miss seeing her. To me, she embodied this quote from Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream. "And though she be but little, she is fierce." My condolences to the whole May family. DeeAnna Deane

I'm truly sorry to hear about your sister. We will keep her and your family in our prayers. May God bless you all. The following poem is very special to me as I read it at my dads funeral, Love, Michelle Beaver God's Garden Author: unknown God looked around his garden And found an empty place. He then looked down upon the earth, And saw your tired face. He put His arms around you And lifted you to rest. God’s garden must be beautiful, He always takes the best. He knew that you were suffering, He knew that you were in pain. He knew that you would never Get well on earth again. He saw the road was getting rough And the hills were hard to climb. So He closed your weary eyelids And whispered “Peace be thine.” It broke our hearts to lose you But you did not go alone… For part of us went with you The day God called you home.

I WILL MISS my friend Denise. I have considered Denise my friend for the last 21 years. She welcomed us to the nicest neighborhood in Middleton. We are neighbors on Franklin Ave. I will miss our long talks in the driveway of our home. She'd pull in, we talk about my children, her nieces and nephews that she BRAGGED about and LOVED. We gossiped about the neighbors :), She always had news! She helped keep me company at our garage sales. Denise asked me lots of medical questions. I was maybe, her Private duty nurse:) We talk about her rashes, hem........, keeping her skin healthy in the sun, and her heart issues. I'd give her advice on exercise, lotions, her medicine, and the NO salt diet that, frankly, SHE HATED! She talked to me about how frustrated she'd get with her her doctors and the desire to continue to fight, when they made her think otherwise. I reminded her that they are not GOD and that only He knows when our last day on earth will be. I'd say, "Denise, continue to enjoy your life as you know how to do, because you do! God will take care of the rest" She'd give me that BIG grin of hers and off she'd go. I'll miss racing Denise down the street. Me in my car. She on her scooter. We somehow managed to always be on the corner of Bristol and Franklin at the same time! I accused her of following me and she accused me that is was me. :) My family will miss their friend Denise. Our children, one by one, grew up knowing Denise. She let each one of them ride with her on her scooter, honk the horn, and ask the multitude of questions about all of the little trinkets that she carried on her scooter. They saw Denies as a Middleton celebrity. EVERY year they'd come home from the Middleton GNF parade and say, "we saw Denise!" They ALL feel sad that our friend is gone. Ann and Bill, my family will continue to keep Denise and your family in our daily prayers. We will hang on to our happy memories of Denise and feel so fortunate to have called her our FRIEND. Lovingly, Darcy, Oscar, Emanuel, Sergio, Jordi, and Iliana Sofia Aviles

I am so sorry to hear of Denise's passing. She was indeed an icon in our neighborhood by MHS. She made the rounds on her wheelchair and was so sweet to visit with. She often had a treat with her for my dog Cooper and would get him to perform to earn it. :) Her involvement with the community and outgoing spirit is an inspiration to anyone with challenges. My condolences to her family. She will be sorely missed. The Henige family
