Obituary

MADISON- Francis S. "Teak" Vacha, age 88, of Madison, passed away on Sunday, Feb. 7, 2016, at Agrace HospiceCare. He was born on Feb. 3, 1928, in Montford, the son of John and Dorothy Vacha. He married Virginia Kidd on June 11, 1948 in Franklin, Ky. Francis worked for Neuendorf for 35 years. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II in the Pacific Theatre. Francis was a Color Guard for VFW Post No. 7591, a member of Madison Elks Lodge No. 410, American Legion Post No. 534 in McFarland, and Madison Veteran's Firing Squad. He was also an usher for many years at St. Dennis Catholic Church. Francis is survived by his wife of 67 years, Virginia; children, Vicki (Steve) O'Kane, Gary Vacha (fiance' Marsha Swanson), Sheila (Scott) Hass, Jackie (Kevin) George and Fran (Debbie) Vacha; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; and twin infant sons, Matthew and Mark. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. DENNIS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 505 Dempsey Rd., Madison, at 11 a.m., on Friday, Feb. 12, 2016, with Father Randy Timmerman presiding. Visitation will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Dr., Madison, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m., on Thursday, Feb. 11, 2016, and at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday.
