Erma Linda Heisig

MADISON-Erma L. Heisig, age 94, of Madison, passed away peacefully on Monday, Feb. 22, 2016, at St. Mary's Care Center. She was born on June 27, 1921, in Watertown, to John and Linda (Hoene) Dittberner. Erma attended Columbus High School. She married Wallace Heisig on Oct. 5, 1940, in Columbus. Erma and Wallace lived in Madison all the remainder of their lives and were married for nearly 55 years. She worked at Wisconsin Telephone Company for five years and retired from the State of Wisconsin Department of Military Affairs in 1986. Erma enjoyed her family and friends, camping and traveling with her husband, children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed working with crafts, playing bingo and cards with her friends. Erma was a member of the Eastside Evangelical Lutheran Church. She worked in the church library for one year and then worked for 11 years in the church office. Erma is survived by two daughters, Bonnie Jean (James) Kraemer and Sandra Ellen (Dane) Seeliger both of Madison; three grandchildren, Shannon Seeliger, Jessica Seeliger (Jeff McCurry), and Nicholas Kraemer; and many nieces and nephews and special friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wallace on Aug. 11, 1995; her father, John Dittberner; stepfather, William Henderson; her mother, Linda Henderson; and brother, Wilmer Dittberner. Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Dr., Madison, at 11 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 26, 2016, with Pastor Nathan Berg presiding. Burial will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Eastside Evangelical Lutheran Church or to the family.
