Jim lived across the street from us in Harmony Grove and he was a fanatical fisherman. In later years when he could no longer fish he talked about his fishing experiences and we loved hearing them. We took him and many baked goods and he always sent a note of appreciation. We read his many letters to the editor and mostly agreed with him.

Our sympathies to Jim's family. Jim lived across the channel from us. Spent many hours fishing off the piers together listening to fishing tales. Jim sent me letters of encouragement when I was deathly ill. He was a good friend and neighbor. We will miss him always.

I always remember the fun family reunions we had at Grandma Miller's house in the summer's while growing up. And the fresh fish that Uncle Jim brought over to our house for many supper's throughout my childhood. As a young girl, I can remember hand printing The Jotter in his basement and folding the paper to get it ready to deliver. Many family members helped out with this! I worked for him & Mitz while I was in high school and college, typing the classified ads for The Jotter. Later, Uncle Jim hired me to sell advertising to businesses. I was afraid to work for commission only, so he was kind enough to give me a salary and then any extra I would make from commission he gave me separately. Well...he was right! I would certainly make more on commission than if I had only received a salary. He was a great boss! My husband, Bob, always enjoyed talking fishing with Uncle Jim. Bob and I were fortunate to be able to spend a tender evening with Jim before he passed. All good memories!!
