Genevieve Wegner

MADISON- Genevieve M. (Gen) Wegner, age 93, died on Sunday, Feb. 14, 2016, at Oregon Manor nursing home. She was born on Oct. 18, 1922, in Fall River, WI to Walter and Augusta (Huebner) Zuelsdorf. She married Leslie (Les) Wegner, on Oct. 4, 1941, in Madison. She was a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker until she and Les retired in 1994 and moved to Cumberland, WI, where they lived until returning to the Madison area in 2005. They were members of Augustana Lutheran Church in Cumberland, and Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Madison. Gen was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years in 2006. She is survived by a daughter, Cheryl Palm (Sue Spurgeon) of Sechelt, B.C., Canada; a son, Kim Wegner (Janice Ryan) of Madison; a grandson, Christopher Palm (Diane) of Michigan City, Indiana; and two great-grandsons, Christopher II and Zachary Palm of Michigan City; as well as several nieces, nephews, and many friends.  Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON FUNERAL HOME EAST, 5203 Monona Drive, at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 17, 2016, with Reverend Bernt Tweit presiding. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 16, 2016, and on Wednesday, Feb. 17, 2016, from 12 Noon until the time of services. The family sends special thanks to the staff of Oregon Manor for their loving care over the past eleven years. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Agrace HospiceCare to whom we will always be grateful for their care of Gen during her last weeks.
