Jerome Bever

MONONA- Jerome F. "Jerry" Bever, age 75, passed away on Friday, Feb. 12, 2016, at Meriter Hospital surrounded by family. He was born on Oct. 4, 1940 in Two Rivers, the son of William and Rose (Jung) Bever. After graduating from Washington High School, Jerry went on to receive his bachelor's degree from UW-Green Bay. On Oct. 3, 1970, he married Marjorie De Staercke in Green Bay. For 23 years, he worked as a vocational rehab teacher and teacher of the blind for the State of Wisconsin, retiring in 1997. Jerry was a member of the Eagles, Catholic Order of Foresters, American Counsel of the Blind and other organizations for the blind. Jerome is survived by his four children, Diane (Rockne "Rocky") Rodenberg, David (Sandy) Stone, Randy (Cheryl) Stone and Vicki (Terry) Bever Kuhn; 12 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren with two on the way; two sisters, Geraldine Smith and Marilyn Bever; brothers-in-law, Richard and Michael; sister-in-law, Clarice; and a niece and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie; parents; two brothers, Elroy and Michael Bever; brother-in-law, Gerald De Staercke; and sister-in-law, Patricia DeGroot. Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL & CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Dr., Madison, at 11 a.m., on Saturday, Feb. 20, 2016, with the Rev. Dr. Miranda Hassett presiding. Entombment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation will take place at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday.
