Janie Lawrence

MADISON-Janie H. Lawrence, age 69, passed away at her home on Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2016, surrounded by her family, after a courageous battle with cancer. Janie was born on May 21, 1946, in Lima, the daughter of Gerhard and Dorothy (Garbe) Prigge. She married Marcel Lawrence on Feb. 24, 1964, in Viroqua, after being longtime pen pals. Janie's nurturing heart showed in her work as a CNA and trainer at Karmenta Nursing Home where she worked for over 30 years before retiring. She loved to be outdoors. On a nice day you could find her in her garden, outside on her deck with a book, or walking her dog, Maxine. Janie also enjoyed collecting teddy bears, crocheting and spending time with her grandchildren. She is survived by her children, Lisa (Mike) Burns and Tina Lawrence; grandchildren, Breanna, Cassie, and Alex Burns and Aurora, Aidan, Alena and Cody Burris; great-granddaughter, Alaina; as well as her two sisters, three brothers, and their families. Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Dr., Madison, at 2 p.m., on Monday, Jan. 18, 2016. Burial will be held at Highland Memory Gardens. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 1 p.m. until the time of the service on Monday.
