Vera Grace Putnam

ORGEON-Vera G. Putnam, age 91, of Oregon, passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 15, 2015 at Oregon Manor. She was born on Sept. 30, 1924 in Oregon, the daughter of Charles Elwyn "Buck" Pledger, Sr. and M. Belle (Devine) Pledger. After Vera graduating from Oregon High School in 1942, she married Richard Putnam on Sept. 27, 1942 in Oregon. For eight years, she was employed by Dawes & Newton of Oregon as their bookkeeper. Vera then joined the Bank of Oregon starting as bookkeeper & retiring after 36 years as an assistant vice president and cashier. Following her retirement, the Putnam's spent the winters in Ocala, Flor., and the summers back at their home in Oregon. Vera enjoyed crafting and sewing as a hobby. She never sold a thing, but was delighted in donating everything she made to charities. Vera is survived by her nieces, Sharon Tarkenton and Debra Anderson; nephew Lee "Buck" (Mary Jo) Pledger; great- nieces and nephews, Brad, Brian, Brett (Amy) and Barry (Kristi) Tarkenton, Dennis (Staci) and Travis Frederick, Wade Wiley, Pamela (John) Simmons, and Bonnie (Greg) Moses; special cousin, Audrey Pledger McNurlen, who was raised as a sister and her family; a sister-in-law, Doris (Putnam) Owen of Florida; and numerous other nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Richard in 2014; brother, Charles "Buck" (Rebecca), Jr. Funeral services will be held at PEOPLE'S UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, 103 N. Alpine Pkwy., Oregon, at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 20, 2015. A private family burial will be held at a later date. Visitation will be held at the church from 1 p.m. until the time of service on Sunday.
