Sunday, December 27, 2015 Jan, Marcie, Sara, Stephen & David and to all of your families: Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you at this difficult time. What a wonderful man Robert was and how lucky you all were to have him in your lives. My Mom, Irma loved him very much as her own son! I wish we could be there to help celebrate his life. I felt sorrow when told of my cousins passing. I can't imagine a Clauss passing on Christmas day. Robert (as my family called him) was part of my first memories starting when I was 3 years old. He lived with me and my parents in a trailer while my parents were having their home (which we still own) built in Long Beach California...I was 3 years old. I remember he took me to a matinee movie with some of his friends. ..He went to John Muir Elementary....I followed him several years later and started Kindergarten at John Muir elementary in Long Beach. He lived with us (Irma and Walter Kerwat) for a few years, then went back to Chicago.. He must have been about 13 years old then...we have stayed in touch over the years mainly through my mother Irma Kerwat...he and my mother had mutual love for each other. His Christmas card to me which I received a few days before Christmas mentioned that he would be rooting for the Wisconsin Badgers in the Holiday Bowl football game..against my USC Trojans.....oh well I will still root for the Trojans...sorry Robert.. see you again in heaven... Jan and Family, Difficult time and difficult to say the right thing; best that we can say is as Red Skelton used to end his program with, "May God Bless".
