Sydney Alyssa Kratochwill

MADISON – Sydney A. Kratochwill, age 15, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2016. She was born on May 14, 2000, in Madison, the daughter of Jerry and Kathy (Schmitt) Kratochwill. Sydney (our Peanut) was an honor student at Lafollette High School where she loved basketball, track and hanging out with her many friends. Outside of school she enjoyed shopping with her Mom or hunting with her Dad and brother - a girly-girl and Daddy's girl wrapped into one. She was adventurous, loved camping with family and traveling to new destinations each year. She didn't sweat the small stuff. Her calm, cool confidence shined through on the free throw line, behind the scope of her rifle and in her life. We'll always remember how her positive energy and smile could quickly light up a room; sometimes that smile would turn slightly crooked, her eyes would gleam and she'd start to giggle - you knew there was mischief in the air. She was smart, witty, fun and full of humor. Most of all Sydney was a loving daughter, sister, and friend. In the short, precious and joyous 15 years, she touched so many lives. While we'll miss her dearly every moment of every day; we know that she has not been taken away, but is just beyond the crest. Sydney is survived by her parents; brother, Brad Kratochwill; grandmother, Barbara Kratochwill; grandparents, Don and Alice Schmitt; aunts and uncles, Mary (Eric) Christofferson, Mark Schmitt, Bob (Nancy) Schmitt, Chris Schmitt, Wendy (Jeff) Diehlmann and Nancy (Steve) Warner; and many cousins, family and friends. She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Gerald Kratochwill. Funeral services will be held at ST. DENNIS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 505 Dempsey Rd., Madison at 11 a.m., on Monday, Jan. 11, 2016. Visitation will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Dr., Madison, from noon until 4 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 10, 2016, and at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Monday.
