Mabel I. Ring

STOUGHTON-Mabel I. Ring, age 81, of Stoughton, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Friday, Oct. 9, 2015, at the Skaalen Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Stoughton. She was born on Oct. 9, 1934, in Deerfield, the daughter of Henry and Karen (Gjertson) Halverson. She married Ervin Ring on Jan. 17, 1959, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Stoughton. Mabel was a long-time member of Covenant Lutheran Church. She had a variety of interests including puzzles, reading and going out to eat. Mabel and Erv traveled world-wide and most enjoyed their family trips to Norway. Mabel is survived by her husband of 56 years, Ervin; daughters, Lori (Jim) Ganshert and Beth (Steve) Hanson; grandsons, Tylor (fiancé Chelsea) and Corey (fiancé Isabella) Hanson and Chad (Katie) Ganshert; four great-grandchildren; brother, Henry; and other relatives and close friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Arline Field, Adeline Halverson and Adeline Helgestad; two nieces; and a nephew. Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON STOUGHTON FUNERAL HOME, 1358 Highway 51 N. at Jackson St., Stoughton at 11 a.m., on Monday, Oct. 12, 2015, with Rev. Mark Petersen presiding. Entombment will be at Roselawn Memorial Park, Monona. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Sunday, Oct. 11, from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m. and also from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Monday. The family would like to thank the staff at St. Mary's Hospital and the staff at Skaalen Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for their wonderful and compassionate care.
