Obituary
OREGON-Lawrence D. Drake, 62, of Oregon, WI, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, December 17th, 2015. He was born January 26, 1953 to Nancy (McCoy) and Byron Drake in Indiana. He graduated from Shawnee Mission South High School in 1971, and where he was a cross country and track star. He had three children, Angela, Andrew, and Jennifer. Larry worked in the healthcare field, as he always was willing to help and care for others. He was a past member with the Oregon EMS. He will always be remembered for his love of animals, and will especially be missed by his dogs. Larry enjoyed his Harley Davidson motorcycle, throwing darts with his dart team, fixing anything that needed fixing, and taking his dogs for walks. Larry was a selfless man and was always proud of his children; he was a very giving man, offering to help whenever and whoever he could, always putting others first. Larry is survived by his children, Andrew (Lindsey) Drake and granddaughter Brooklynn, and Jenny (Brian) Summers and family; Brothers, Robert Drake, Jim (Mickey) Drake; Nephews, Nick (Mac) Drake and family, Steven (Mia) Drake and family, Tim Drake; and niece Jessalynn Drake. He is further survived by many dear friends in Wisconsin and Colorado. He will be joining his daughter Angie in heaven, along with his mother and father. Memorial services will be held at Gunderson Oregon Funeral Home, 1150 Park St. Oregon, at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2015. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 4 p.m. until the time of the service. Rest in peace Larry, you will be greatly missed. I will always remember you as giving and caring person. Every time I saw you; you were always giving something and was always wanting to help out. I find it ironic in your passing that it is around Christmas; a holiday about giving. Thank you for all you have given us. Larry was the ‘Pied Piper’ of our neighborhood. All of the neighborhood dogs loved to see Larry coming with Remi and Lexi (Jabba) because Larry had the BEST treats and generously shared them with everyone. Sometimes I think Mia even stood by the front window looking for Larry....
Our thoughts and prayers are with the Drake family in this time of sadness. Larry was a kind and generous neighbor and he will be missed by all – four legged friends and two.

We would always see Larry out walking his dogs and was so friendly. We would enjoy watching him stop at the neighbors houses with treats for their dogs. So sorry for your loss Drake Family. May the light shine upon you Larry.

Dad, I still can't believe it, I'm still hoping to wake up from this nightmare. Thank you for everything you have done for me and my family, you always put others first before you, and that taught us the true meaning of being selfless. You always had my back 100% and will never forget how proud you were of both Angie, Andy, and I. All the pups will miss all their walks and treats, (along with all the neighborhood dogs too!) as you loved them all the same. Give Angie lots of hugs from me, and enjoy your ride up there. I know you'll always be at my side. I'll love you and miss you forever. Xoxo.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the Drake family at this sad time. Larry will be missed in the neighborhood. He always had a treat for our dog, Clyde, who looked forward to seeing Larry and his dogs. We will miss seeing Larry too,he was a good neighbor.

Larry was such a wonderful neighbor. Years ago, we started talking whenever he would walk his wonderful dogs but he quickly became a strong supporter of my son and his band. Larry would look for articles about the band in the newspaper and then bring us his copy of it. He would bring my son t-shirts that he thought might be good stage shirts during band performances. He even gave my son a CD of music he thought he would enjoy. He was always such a warm and happy soul. Larry will be missed tremendously. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family.
