Obituary

OREGON- Lucille Outhouse, passed away Sunday, Dec. 6, 2015, at the age of 100, just before her 101st birthday. She was born in the Town of Greenfield, Sauk County, Wis., on Dec. 28, 1914, the daughter of Fred and Helen (Jahn) Schlender. She graduated from Baraboo High School. After graduating from Cosmetology School, she went on to work for the State of Wisconsin for a few years. On March 7, 1940, she married Perry Outhouse at the Schlender farm in Baraboo. After moving to Oregon, they raised nine children, and celebrated 61 years of life together before Perry's death in 2001. Together they taught us great work ethic that was immeasurable. She was a loyal servant to her church, serving as president of the Women of the Church, heading up committees for church dinners and smorgasbords and active in many circles. Lucille excelled in her cooking and baking abilities and passed all of that on to her children and grandchildren. She was a caring and compassionate woman and the main focus in her life was to her husband and the raising of their children and each generation to follow. Lucille is survived by her children, Sharon (Lee) Christensen, Ron (Linda), Richard, Helen Niebuhr, Orrin (Karen), Perry (Lynne), Jayne (David) Wick and Joyce (Tom Long) Outhouse; daughter-in-law, Caryle (Larry) Outhouse; 12 grandchildren, Lesa (Tom) Armstrong, Lesle (Brian) Ninedorf, Rick (Sonja) Outhouse, Cari (Jerry) Sabel, Tari Christensen, Kent (Lisa) Christensen, Dana Outhouse, Fred Outhouse, Amy Outhouse, Jennifer (Aric) Anderson, Kristi Outhouse and Jason (Michelle Kahl) Outhouse; 19 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and her sister, Margaret Schaitel. Lucille was a mom and grandma to many including Julie Theiss who was like a daughter to her. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Perry; son, Larry; great-granddaughter, Jessica Christensen; brothers, William Schlender and Stuart Schlender; son-in-law, Jim Niebuhr; and other relatives and many friends. Funeral Services will be held at GUNDERSON OREGON FUNERAL HOME, 1150 Park St., Oregon, at 10:30 a.m., on Friday, Dec. 11, 2015, with Pastor Rebecca Ninke presiding. Burial will follow at Prairie Mound Cemetery, Oregon. Visitation will be held at the funeral home, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m., on Thursday, Dec. 10, 2015, and from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Brooklyn Lutheran Church, Agrace HospiceCare or Shriners Children's Hospital. The family wishes to express their special thanks for the wonderful care given to our mother by Dr. Heifner, the staff at Evansville Manor; Agrace HospiceCare; special caregiver, Karen Maurer; and her Hairdresser, Janeen Barlass, who came religiously every week to make mother look even more beautiful than she already was. To you all, your efforts never went unnoticed. It meant the world to each of us that she was always in the best of care. "Death leaves a heartache that no one can heal. Love leaves a memory that no one can steal. In life we loved you dearly; in death we do the same, It breaks our hearts to lose you, but you did not go alone; For part of us went with you, the day God called you home. Our family chain is broken and nothing seems the same; but as God calls us one by one, the chain will link again." Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com. My condolences to the family, I know this is a very hard time for you, but I would like to share with you what helped me when I lost a loved one. It was what Jesus said at John 5:28,29, "Do not be amazed at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out, to a resurrection of life." It is always comforting to know we can see our loved ones again where "death nor pain will be no more." (Revelation 21:4) Until then keep the happy, joyful memories of Lucille in your lives and hearts. My prayers are with your family.

Your Mom was an amazing women, she took such good care of my children while I worked. They got to calling her grandma which was so comforting to me since I had to work outside of our home. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. Shirley Pernot

Growing up in Oregon & classmate of Larry, & later working with Larry, Ron & Perry, I have many memories of the Outhouse family. These are times to stop & reflect back of the many good years. Rest in peace.
