Obituary
MONONA: Nola G. Jacobson, age 83, of Monona, passed away on Dec. 18, 2015, at Heritage Senior Living. Daughter of W.E. (Eddie) and Agnes Steele of Lodi, she was born on July 20, 1932. She married Robert (Bob) Jacobson in June of 1956, in Madison. Nola graduated from Lodi High School and Milwaukee State Teacher College, majoring in Music Education. She taught music in the Madison and Monona Grove School Districts for many years. Nola loved to travel (especially to Norway to visit family) and taught her family to love travel too. She loved cooking and baking, listening to classical music, playing the piano, figure skating, and the Green Bay Packers. Nola also loved her home on Lake Monona, where she could view the state capital from her pier and enjoy watching fox run through her back yard. She deeply loved her family and was incredibly proud of them every single day. Nola is survived by her daughter, Kristi (David) Massey of Cottage Grove; three grandchildren, Libby Massey (John Van de Kamp) of Chicago, Erik (Kelli) Massey of McFarland and Kelsey (Jordan) Crump of Scottsdale, Ariz.; and sister Ann Pratt of San Marcos, Texas. Nola was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and son, Robert Eric Jacobson of Colorado Springs, Colo. A Celebration of Life will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Dr., Madison, at 5 p.m., on Sunday, Dec. 20, 2015, with the Rev. Nick Utphall, St. Stephen's Lutheran Church officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to: St. Stephen's Lutheran Church, 5700 Pheasant Hill Rd, Monona, WI 53716; Heritage Resident Fund Donation, 111 Owen Road, Monona, WI 53716; or, Home Health United-Meals on Wheels, 4639 Hammersley Road, Madison, WI, 53711. My deep sympathy to the family. What a very special woman she was! Mrs. Jacobson was my first flute instructor in Mt. Horeb, WI. Twenty years later we were peers as elementary music teachers in the Madison School district and we reminisced and laughed together. Her husband was a coach and coached my brother in high school. I loved Nola! I remember her artsy style of dress, her laugh, her theory of teaching music to children, her sincerity, her delight that we reconnected. God bless her memory for you all. Speak often of her to keep the memory of wonderful and joyful times alive. I will smile each time I think of her -- what a gift she was.

So very sorry for your loss, Kristi. When did your brother Eric pass away as your mom's obituary states. Can't find any mention of Eric's passing (obit) anywhere on the web.

Nola had a warm smile and a positive outlook. Thankfully she's passed that gift onto Kristi. She was a huge MG supporter especially at Libby and Erik's events. Hopefully she's at peace with Bob. She will definitely be missed. Please accept our deepest sympathies. It's been a tough couple of weeks for your family.
