Philip Patrick William Baebler

LODI-Philip Patrick William "Bubbles" Baebler, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 29, 2015. He was born on March 17, 1938, in Madison, the son of William and Mary (Nevel) Baebler. He met his future wife, Patsy Vinger at the famous Jingles Stadium Bar where he was a regular fixture and pitched on the Jingles fast pitch team. They were wed in October, 1964. They moved to Lodi (Harmony Grove) in 1972. Phil had several jobs throughout his lifetime with the most memorable when he owned his own gas station in Madison. He retired in 2000 from Gardner's Bakery. Phil got involved in local politics when he served as alderman and mayor. He served on many commissions including Public Works, Library Board, Finance and EMS. Phil also served on the Columbia County Board and was involved in several committees including, Health and Human Services, Solid Waste Zoning and Planning Judiciary. He was an active member of Blessed Trinity Catholic Church in Lodi. His health problems slowed him down, but you could still find him at the Mobil gas station coffee clutch, debating the local happenings. In most recent years, he enjoyed watching sports and going to the movies. Phil was an avid reader of murder mysteries and had an insatiable sweet tooth. More than anything, he loved his wife, daughters, grandchildren, great-grandchild and his beloved side-kick, Auggie his dog! He was fondly referred to as "Dad" by many and his ribbing was not exclusive to just his girls. Phil is survived by his wife, Patsy; daughters, Babette (Peter), Joyce (Scott), Stacy, Emily (Dylan) and Sarah (Terry); grandchildren, Kelly (Carl), Ashley (Chad), William, Summer, Chase and Dakota; great-grandchild, Lylie; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, William Baebler; and sisters, Virginia Ryan and Dolores McCluskey. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at BLESSED TRINITY CATHOLIC PARISH AT ST. PATRICK'S, 521 Fair St., Lodi, at 11 a.m., on Friday, Dec. 4, 2015, with the Rev. Father Chad M. Droessler presiding. Visitation will be held at HAMRE GUNDERSON FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 157 S. Main St., Lodi, on Thursday, Dec. 3, 2015, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m., and at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the Mass on Friday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Phil's name to the Lodi Area EMS or Blessed Trinity Catholic Parish.
