Susan Daugherty

MADISON – Susan W. Daugherty, age 94, of Madison, passed away on Friday, Nov. 27, 2015. She was born on Oct. 21, 1921 in the Hartland Township, the daughter of Dewey and Matilda Weghorn. Susan was united in marriage with Kenneth Daugherty on Dec. 26, 1949. She proudly served during World War II in the U. S. Women's Army Corps. During her services, Susan was involved in the Manhattan Project. She received her bachelor's degree from UW-Madison and continued her education throughout her career as a research assistant at the UW-Madison plant pathology department, retiring in 1984. Susan met many wonderful graduate students from around the world, and kept in touch with many. She enjoyed traveling and camping with her family, was an avid reader, and loved a good cup of tea. Susan is survived by her children, John Daugherty, Ken (Megan Michaels) Daugherty, Jim Daugherty, Nancy (Allen) Johnson and Dan (Jody) Daugherty; sisters, Pam Adamson and Georgia Zirul; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Susan was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and brothers, Fred and Arthur. A Memorial Service will be held at the MADISON COMMUNITY SEVENTH DAY ADVENTIST CHURCH, 1926 Elka Lane, Madison on Friday Dec. 4, 2015, at 3 p.m., with Pastor Abraham Swamidass presiding.
