Obituary
MADISON-Margaret Lorraine (Hildebrandt) (Rocca) Eithun, age 101, born in Madison on Dec. 24, 1913, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 23, 2015, at Oregon Manor. She was the daughter of John "Jack" Hildebrandt and Martha (Johnson) (Hildebrandt) Thompson. Margaret attended the Sunnyside and Sherman Schools. During World War II, she was a replacement worker at the Ray-O-Vac plant formerly on Atwood Avenue in Madison. Creatively, Margaret enjoyed music, dancing, sewing and knitting. When she could no longer grace the floor with the polka, waltz and schottische, she tapped her feet and sang along as she listened to her favorite country tunes. She was a lifelong seamstress and took great pleasure in sewing and knitting for her children and grandchildren. Her favorite travel destination was to visit family in Massachusetts where she could see her beloved Boston Red Sox team. Margaret was an avid fisher and a lifetime card carrying member of the Yahara Fisherman's club in Madison where she won an award for the largest Muskie caught at one of the club fishing contests. She was an avid sports fan and followed the Green Bay Packers and UW Badger football teams. Wherever she went, she wore a game day or hat of the season supporting her favorite teams. Before moving to Oregon in 2014, Margaret was a resident of Segoe Terrace in Madison for 35 years. Assisting her in living independently were friends at the South Madison Coalition of the Elderly and Independent Living of Madison. Margaret is survived by her daughters, Gloria (Rocca) Moreland of Salem, Mass., and Linda (Eithun) McCarthy of Middleton; sons, Bob (Christine) Rocca of Sun Prairie; and Tom (Julie) Eithun of Brooklyn. In addition to her children, she will be lovingly missed by her 18 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; sons, James Rocca, John Eithun and Norris Eithun, Jr.; daughter-in-law, Alice Rocca; former husbands, Joseph Rocca and Norris Eithun; and dear friend, Ray Amble. One of nine children, Margaret was also preceded in death by her brothers, Melvin, August, LeRoy, John, Roy and Robert Hildebrandt; and sisters, Sylvia Hildebrandt and Marian (Hildebrandt) Oehrlein. Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Dr., Madison, at 1 p.m., on Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2015. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park. I will always remember what a special person you were to all of our family. Aunt Margaret never
forget how to have fun and her version of fun never grew old. We all remember how great she was
at our last family reunion. All the stories she was able to remember , everything about all our lives.
She even remember my parents address, when I was a baby. Our family loved her and will miss her
deeply. Now she can play porker with all her brothers in heaven!!!!!
Love and miss you,

The first time I met Aunt Margaret I was very young and went to visit her at her home with my family. she showed us all the newspaper clippings she had collected about her son who had been cured of leukemia. I was struck by what an attractive and dignified woman she was and by how proud she was of her family. I lost touch with her for many years and then in 2001 as the result of my interest in genealogy I met her daughter Linda and was reunited with her and my whole Hildebrandt family. over the past years we shared many conversations both on the phone and in person. She had a wonderful memory and loved talking about herself and her family I will really miss her and our long conversations.
