Obituary

MIDDLETON-Robert "Bob" C. Krahn went to his heavenly home on October 3, 2015, after a courageous ten year battle with Multiple Myeloma. In 2013 he was celebrated by the U.W. Carbone Cancer Center when he completed his 100th treatment. Bob was born in Merrill, Wisconsin, August 29, 1931 to Harold and Ella (Klayum) Krahn. Throughout his life Bob was passionate about many sports. As a young man he played baseball for the Doering Team. This was following a family tradition, as his dad Harold, uncle Herbert and brother Milton all played for the same team. Bob served in the United States Army from 1953 to 1955, stationed in Germany. During that time he graduated from Operating Engineer school. He married Audrey Gennrich on June 16, 1956 and they moved to Middleton. Bob worked for Holzem Construction and then 32 years for The Bruce Company, retiring in 1993. In later years he was very proud of helping build multiple world-class golf courses. Bob was a member and long time usher at St. Luke's Lutheran Church, Middleton. He was a member of The Madison Elk's Club, Oak Ridge Rifle Club, and a founding member of the Tall Tails Hunting Club of Gleason, Wisconsin. His favorite place to relax was his cottage on Lake Jordan and he was an avid outdoorsman, a great fisherman, hunter and golfer. On July 5, 2002 Bob made a Hole-In-One on #16 at Pleasant View Golf Course, this remained one of his favorite courses! He was also a familiar face at the Middleton Sport Bowl, bowling 40 years in their leagues and achieving a 600 series. During retirement, he traveled to many states, including Alaska and Hawaii. However, his favorite travel destinations were wherever his granddaughter Stephanie was partcipating in a golf match, softball game or musical theater performance. Bob is survived by his loving and devoted wife Audrey, they were married for 59 years. He is also survived by his daughter Robin, son-in-law Steve, granddaughter Stephanie, sister Helen and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Milton and sister Harriet. Funeral services will be held at ST. LUKE'S LUTHERAN CHURCH, 7337 Hubbard Ave., Middleton, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 10, 2015, with the Reverend Heather Hayward presiding. A visitation will be held at GUNDERSON WEST FUNERAL & CREMATION CARE, 7435 University Ave., Middleton, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Friday, October 9, 2015 and at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday.
