MIDDLETON-Jacqueline Meyer, 74, died at home on Saturday, Oct. 3, 2015, of metastatic breast cancer. She was born on Feb. 2, 1941, in Manhattan KS. Jacqueline grew up in Manhattan and has lived in Madison and Middleton since 1964. She was a stay-at-home mom until 1977, when she went to work at Dane County Title Company. Jacqueline started as a receptionist and worked her way up to the Chief Financial Officer and the Director of Human Resources until retiring in 2004. Survivors include her mother, Mabel Amthauer of Lenexa, KS; her brother, Stephen Amthauer of Overland Park, KS; her husband of 56 years, John Meyer; her first daughter, Kimberli Meyer of Los Angeles, Calif.; her second daughter, Keli Meyer of Montclair, NJ.; and her two granddaughters, Mina and Hannah Meyer-Najmi. Jacqueline was preceded in death by her father, Glen Amthauer of Manhattan, KS. There will be no funeral. An informal memorial gathering for relatives and friends will be held at her home, 1615 Cypress Trail, Middleton, Wis., from 2 p.m. until 4:00 P.m. on Friday Oct. 9, 2015. The family is most grateful for the wonderful care and support provided by the good people at Agrace HospiceCare. I worked with Jackie for many years at Dane County Title. She was hard working, smart, fair, approachable and always had a smile on her face. I really enjoyed working with her and knowing her. She was a very special person. My condolences to her family.

Jackie was a true inspiration to us all She started as a receptionist - and became a "LIFER" - a label that was given to all that started young at DCTC and never left (Jackie may have invented it?). Everybody could go to her and she would be able to heal all verbal wounds - her fair approach to a situation always comforted us and made us feel whole again. She was exceptionally organized and detailed. Another gift of Jackie's was her handwriting - it was PERFECT - there should be a font called "Jacqueline Meyer" . I see it almost everyday - and I when I run across it ..... it pulls me back in time ... - with her blond bobbed perm hair, her fantastic innocent smile - and of course her LL Bean wardrobe.
A wine toast to you Jackie! I love you - and have comfort that you are with the other "LIFERS" - Please save some wine for me - the other "LIFER".
