What a treat it was to know Bernie! He always had a story to tell when I brought him communion or saw him at Skaalen and gave a report each.time on the progress of the tomato plants growing in the little garden. He would ,also, brighten a few desks with flowers picked on his walks......not always with permission. I feel privileged to have been able to give him communion and say the rosary on Tuesday, September 29th. He will be greatly missed by many people. I'm sorry I cannot attend the services as I am in Utah. My deepest sympathy to all of you. I will give a memorial to Saint Ann's in his name. Sylvia Jordan

Mr. Mixtacki was a giving person. He supported the Cub / Boy Scouts. He and his wife were very supportive of my brother, & our family after my father died. May he rest in God's peace. My sympathy to The Mixtacki family. Mary Anne (Miller) Reed

I am saddened to read Bernie Mixtacki's obituary in the Wisconsin State Journal. I graduated with Steve Mixtacki from Monona Grove High School in 1972 and happened to have known Steve's father, Bernie. We usually called Steve by his nickname which was "Bernie" of course. One quick story of the real Bernie that I've always remembered. In the old days, our family lived for one year on one end of Sylvan Lane and the Mixtackis on the other end. Perhaps Bernie was a little league coach in those days (I don't recall), but I was doing my best pitching hardball in the local little league. I remember Bernie's kindness & patience as he coached and played catch with me in his back yard so I could improved my skills. I rode my bike down the block so we could practice. The year was 1965 & I was 10-years-old. My condolences go out to the Mixtacki family. .
