Jon A. Zimmerman

CROSS PLAINS-Jon A. "Zim" Zimmerman, age 72, of Cross Plains, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2015, at home. He was the son of Ed and Evelyn (Juris) Zimmerman, born July 14, 1943 in Wauwatosa. He married Rosemary Brunner on Aug. 12, 1967 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Pine Bluff. Jon attended St. Francis Xavier Catholic School, graduating in 1957 and from Middleton High School in 1962. He was a lineman for 20 years before starting his own business in 1983. In 1991, Jon's life was changed forever due to a brain stem stroke. His strong work ethic helped him persevere through many obstacles. As of Monday, Zim's "to do" list was all checked off. Jon is survived by his wife, Rosemary; daughters, Diane , (Mike) Friis and Sheila (Ed) Williams; son, Charles (Laura) Zimmerman; grandchildren, Dane and Cole Friis, Abigail and Madelyn Williams and Kayla, Nicholas, Eloise, Joshua, Kateri, Virginia and Beatrice Zimmerman; and sisters and brothers-in-law, Charlotte (Lyle) Esser, Patricia McNulty, Pauline Brunner, Jeannie Miller, Sr. Jacinta (Carol) Brunner, Teresa (Randy) Butters, Marian Bemis, Leona Hall, Susan Brunner, Stephanie (Don) Laufenberg and Joe (Melissa) Brunner. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Susan; brother, Roger; and sisters and brothers-in-law, Mark, Ron and Ray Brunner, Barbara Zander, Richard McNulty, Ervin Zander, Earl Miller and Tom Bemis. A Memorial Mass will be held at ST FRANCIS XAVIER CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2947 Thinnes St., Cross Plains, at 10:30 a.m., on Saturday, Oct. 31, 2015. Visitation will be held at the church from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m., on Friday, Oct. 30, 2015, and from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the Mass on Saturday.
