Obituary
LODI WI-Patricia M. "Pat" Westby, age 80, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 2, 2015 at St. Mary's Hospital in Madison surrounded by her loving family. She was born on May 1, 1935, in Janesville, WI, the daughter of Milo and Ethel (Alverson) Loveland. She was united in marriage to Robert "Bob" Westby, on August 20, 1955 in First Baptist Church in Janesville. Pat graduated from UW-Whitewater earning her degree in Elementary Education and worked as an elementary school teacher for two years. She was a stay-at-home mother for 12 years; she returned to UW Whitewater graduating in 1989 with a degree in Developmental Disabilities. She had a passion for caring for those with special needs and was delighted to be involved in Special Olympics. Pat was the Director of the Columbia County Adult Work Activity Center for those with Disabilities and worked on many boards and committees; a champion for those with special needs, an active member of Lodi United Methodist Church, and a doting and loving grandmother. Pat is survived by her husband, four children, Alan (Terri Spychalla) Westby, Charles (Kim Barbeau)Westby, Robert Westby, Dena (Bill) Mercer; her grandchildren, Ryan Harrison, Teresa (Matt) Breitrick, Russell Westby, John Westby, Sam Westby, Stephen Westby, Jonah Re, Ian Mercer, Collin Mercer and Lauren Mercer and great-grandchildren, Alexia , Nicholas and Reagan Harrison. Pat was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Roberta (Loveland) Knuth and granddaughter, Elizabeth. A Celebration of Pat's Life will be held at LODI UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, 130 Locust St., Lodi WI at 4 p.m. on Sunday, September 6, 2015 with the Reverend Marjorie Rice-Myers presiding. Burial will take place in Emerald Grove Cemetery, Emerald Grove, WI at a later date. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 2 - 4 p.m. prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Special Olympics. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff of SSICU at St. Mary's Hospital and the Lodi EMS for all the care they gave Pat. Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com.

I am so sadden by your loss. Pat was a wonderful lady with many special gifts. I'll always remember her being especially welcoming , always supportive and ready with a smile. She was my earliest mentor on being a professional business woman. The moments I'll most remember is you, Bob, and Pat sitting together after work and catching up on your day, just staying connected. She will be missed.
