She was born in Madison, the eldest daughter of Robert and Grace Schumpert. Marita gave us tremendous insight into her intellect and exceptional talents during our Bible Study on Eben Alexander's Proof of Heaven: A Neurosurgeon's Journey Into Afterlife. Like Ms. Frizzle in PBS's Magic School Bus, she took complex issues and translated them, so everyone in the group was able to grasp her concepts. While educating us, her eyes intense: shining brilliantly, she beamed at us, with a curiously girlish smile.
We will miss her.
In Christ's love,
Debbie and Dwight Pautz

Marita was a wonderful neighbor. We lived at 3236 Brooklyn for 14 yrs. before moving to the north woods. I remember many mornings sharing tea & conversation with her. She was so helpful with her advice & just being a good listener. I miss her.

I'm so sorry that I didn't hear of Marita's passing until well after the fact. I worked with her in Blood Bank for a few years before transferring to another lab. We enjoyed many rhetorical spars and stimulating conversations. I visited her through the years after her retirement, but most recently fell out of touch. I wish I had had the chance to say goodbye!
