Obituary

MADISON-Phyllis Louise Bultman's 86 years of life was filled with love. On Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2015, she went to heaven and became our angel after many courageous years of battling heart disease. Phyllis was born on Nov. 9, 1928, in Madison, to Carl L. Payne and Dorothy (Godding) Hutchins. She graduated from East High School and attended the UW-Madison for two and one half years. In 1950, Phyllis married Donald Bultman. She started as a summer worker at Janey's Dairy Bar which was owned by her father. Janey was her nickname. She then worked at her father's store, C&P, on Madison's east side. She was a checker in the grocery store, worked in the variety store, and was an exceptionally talented floral designer at the garden center. To know Phyllis, was to know she had an undeniable love for her husband, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and extended family. Phyllis was always there to support everyone. She would want all her family and friends to know how important they were to her. When you are with your loved ones, let the goodness of family fill your heart and remind you how fiercely Phyllis loved her family and loved being with her friends. We are so grateful to have had the opportunity to have had her in our lives. She spent the last year and a half at Nazareth Health and Rehabilitation Center in Stoughton. She was cared for by the most "wonderful caring staff". Thank you and hugs to each of you. A special thank you to Heartland Hospice for their care and support during her final days. Phyllis is survived by her husband, Donald Bultman; children, Candace (James) Neumeier, Terri Jorgenson (special friend, John Edmunds) and Steven (Barb) Bultman; grandchildren, Rebecca Jensen (special friend, Kevin Murphy), Kirsten Bultman (Josh) Levin, Michael Moore, Kelly Bultman, Haley Bacon (fiancé, Jacob Denzer), Matt (Elena) Bultman, and Kevin (Val) Bultman; great-grandchildren, Wesley and Trevor Levin; and sisters, JoAnn (Jim) Hanaway and Emily Ilg. She was preceded in death by her parents; stepmother, Helen Payne; and her father and mother-in-law, William and Ida Bultman. Per Phyllis's request, a celebration of her life will be held at a later date with all invited to attend and share their memories. Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com. My condolences to Don and family. I was a carry-out boy when Phyllis was a checker in the late 40s and early 50s. Sincerely, Stephen Lentz, SMS USAF (Retired) 15559 W. Francis Rd. Evansville, WI 53536-9702

My deep sympathy to you Don, Candace, Steve, and Terry. The best next door neighbors we ever had! Phyllis and my Shirley have, by now, renewed their friendship in their new home! I'm sure Phyllis is still "keeping her left guarded" Don! Bart Klotzbach

To Uncle Don, Steve, Candy, Terry, Aunt Joanne, and all our "Madison family" - A big hug to each of you from the Oshkosh Eliasens. When I think of Aunt Phyllis, I think of her grace, her artistry, her sense of humor and that awesome strawberry (maybe raspberry?) dessert. A beautiful life, well lived, and an amazing legacy left, in each of you! Lots of Love, Sara (Ilg) Eliasen
