Obituary

WILMINGTON, N.C.-Patricia Louise (Laufenberg) "Pat" Wildeck, age 80, of Wilmington, N.C., passed to eternal rest Thursday, Aug. 27, 2015, at Lower Cape Fear Hospice. She was born on March 14, 1935, to Mabel Louise (Rabuck) and Fred Joseph Laufenberg. Pat attended Madison West High School where she graduated in 1953. Pat married Robert "Bob" Wildeck on June 18, 1955. They later divorced but remained friends throughout their lives. They lived in Madison, Fitchburg and Oregon. Pat worked at Rennebohm Drug Store in Madison after high school. She later worked at General Casualty Insurance in Sun Prairie, Wis., for 23 years. After retirement, she moved to North Carolina. Pat is survived by four children; Mike (Lori) Wildeck of Weston, Wis., Terri (Jim) Haga of Jacksonville, N.C., Deb Groh (Jeff Stokley) of Wilmington, N.C., and Steve (Teresa) Wildeck of Fitchburg, Wis.; grandchildren, Dan (Julie) Wildeck, Jacob (Cara) Wildeck, Marissa Wildeck, Kyle Stormoen, Hannah Hager, Kayla Wildeck, and Connor Wildeck; great-granddaughter, Hazel Wildeck (daughter of Dan and Julie Wildeck); two sisters, Joyce (Ken) Niesen and Colleen (Tom) Varnes; and her dog, Matti, who brought her so much comfort and love. Pat was preceded in death by her parents; and her former husband, Bob, who passed in February. Pat loved her children, grandchildren, and great-granddaughter; she always had a hug and kiss to share with them. Pat enjoyed finding antiques, ballroom dancing, gardening, her dogs, riding horses, art, auctions, reading short stories, and Bunco with her friends. In Wilmington, she was a member of the Red Hat Society. She held a strong faith in God and was a member of the Catholic Church her entire life. The three words that best describe Pat's life were love, family and faith; she valued them all dearly. Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON FITCHBURG FUNERAL HOME, 2950 Chapel Valley Rd., Fitchburg, at 11:30 a.m., on Saturday, Sept. 5, 2015, with Father Kenneth Klink presiding. I am so very sad learning of Pat's passing. My deepest sympathy to all her family. Growing up, our families were next-door neighbors on the west side of Madison (Glen Oaks). I was a bridesmaid in her wedding. I was so excited reconnecting with her when she moved to No. Carolina. I will greatly miss our exchange of cards and letters at Christmas. I will miss you Pat -- my dear and loving friend. What a wonderful tribute of photos. Some of them brought back wonderful memories. Norma Jennings Babb, Corona de Tucson, AZ

I am so sad to hear of my dear friend Pat passing away. I will miss visiting her and playing with Maddie. She loved telling me how proud she was of her children and especially her granddaughter, Hannah. I would love to talk to Terri to pass on my condolences and hear about her passing. I'd like to know where Maddie is and how she is doing. She was such a good friend to me. I will miss her a lot! Cathy Motyka NJ & NC.
