Obituary
MADISON-Bachmann, Ruth, born May 25, 1924, age 91 of Madison died on Wednesday, Sept. 9, 2015, at home, surrounded by the love of her family, friends and Kitty Kat. She was born in Boscobel, the daughter of Fred and Erval Frazier. As a girl, she worked hard on the family dairy farm milking twenty cows twice daily from age twelve. At the age of 18, she moved to Madison, started working at Oscar Meyers and in 1945 met and married the love of her life, Fred Bachmann on September 15th. In 1954, Fred and Ruth started Bachmann Construction Company. Ruth was known to work just as hard side by side with Fred in the construction company as she did for her family at home. Ruth enjoyed time with her family, her most recent best friend Maureen and her dear Kitty Kat. She loved to cook, do puzzles with her great-grandson, and listen to country western music. Ruth's unique spirit is shown clearly in some of her favorite sayings; "Where there's a will, there's a way," "If everyone in the world was the same, it'd be a boring place to live," and "I have no regrets about my life, there's not a thing I would change." The love she had for her family and friends is what she'll be remembered for. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred. She will be greatly missed by her friends, relatives and close family members; her daughters, Diane and Deborah; her sons, Allan (Robin) and Frederick (Kiya); her grandchildren, Naomi (Brian), Noah, David, Ashley (Kyle), and Carmen; and her great-grandson, Eden. Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Dr., Madison, at 10 a.m., on Monday, Sept. 14, 2015. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m., on Sunday, Sept. 13, 2015, and from 9 a.m. until the time of the service on Monday. So sorry for your loss Fred, Al, Deb and Diane. Aunt Ruth will be greatly missed. She truly was a very loving person. I will never forget how she would tell my husband Mike and I a joke or something private and she would be "whispering" but everyone around could still hear her. (haha) She always greeted us with a big hug and kiss and was always so happy and upbeat. She was and always will be my favorite aunt. Sorry I didn't visit lately, but I really just wanted to remember her the way she was.
R.I.P Aunt Ruth. Love Mike and Tammy (Jones) and Trudy Stanton

I'm so sorry for your loss. I sure will miss visiting with Ruth on my yearly visit to Wisconsin from Seattle. We would go to lunch at the Cottage Café, she loved that place, and talk about the days with my mom and dad. They all knew each other since the 40's when my mom, Bernadine and Ruth worked at Oscars. We would go back to Ruth's apartment and she would show me old pictures of her, Fred and my mom and dad. She would tell me about fun times they all had together. Ruth says I always keep your moms picture right here and I talk to her daily. I believe she did that. In August when I visit Ruth was bed ridden. She wasn't doing well but she was so happy to see me as I was to see her. She talked about how she was ready to go and hang out with Fred, Don and Bernadine again. She was ready for heaven to welcome her. I cried as I left knowing this would probably be the last time I would ever get to spend time with her. I have truly enjoyed all of our visits. You children had wonderful parents. There was nothing they wouldn't have done for you as I am sure you know. I'm sorry that I will not be able to attend the service. I'm sure it will be a loving service of all the wonderful memories of Ruth. She will be missed.
All my love and condolences,
Sandra "Lien" Brown

Ruth and Fred meant so very much to my mother, father, and uncle since the day my dad and his brother became employees of Bachmann Construction. My father, thanks to Fred and Ruth, and his co-workers became like 'family'. Along with their wives, they maintained close relationships long into retirement; births, marriages, and deaths. Their love of families, brotherhood, loyalty, creativity. and work with their hands were unspoken and binding philosophies.
I know there's dancing somewhere today....
My love to Ruth and Fred's 'kids'!

Dear Bachmann Family and Friends at Bachmann Construction,
Just helping out at the office a year ago, I knew Ruth was special to all of you. Right now it may be difficult to take away your sadness when you lose someone so close. I wish you all strength and comfort in the days ahead. Take care. Patti Bishop
