Obituary

LODI/DANE- Andrew Arthur "Art" Schwartz, passed away peacefully on Aug. 21, 2015, at Our House Assisted Living in Lodi. He was born on Oct. 12, 1923, the son of Joseph and Agnes (Wildenburg) Schwartz. One of nine children, Art took care of the family farm after his father's passing. Art was a farmer of excellence, along with being a master builder and woodworker, making many beautiful items for his family. He was united in marriage to Vivian Burdin on Oct. 13, 1948, in Martinsville, where he grew up and went to school. His beloved "Bea" preceded him in death on April 11, 1995. Together they farmed on Crystal Lake Rd., for over 40 years. The love they had for the farm and each other through the good and bad times, was an example of honesty, integrity and a treasure to all of us. Art's sense of humor and kindness he showed was precious. He enjoyed dancing, playing cards, watching football and in his later years, sitting outside and watching the birds. Art is survived by his son, Howard (Sheri) Schwartz; three grandsons, Tony, Andy (Amber) and Casey; great-grandson, Hayden Schwartz and one on the way (A blessing Art had was holding little Hayden as he celebrated his 90th birthday); daughter Jeannie; granddaughter, Sara (Will) Meixner; great-granddaughter, Ella Vivian Meixner (who he shared many smiles and hugs); sister, Lucille (Dan) Alt, sisters-in-law, Allene Welsch, and Mary and Katy Schwartz; and many special nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Vivian; three infant children; brothers, Clarence, Edwin, Melvin, Frank and Walter; sisters, Leona and Delores; brothers-in-law, LaVerne Welsh, Billy Burdin, Ray Hellenbrand and Elmer Johnson; and sisters-in-law, Gusty, Jane and LaVina. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST MARTIN CATHOLIC CHURCH, 5959 St Martin Cir, Cross Plains, at 11 a.m., on Tuesday, Aug. 25, 2015, Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until the time of the Mass on Tuesday.
