Obituary

CORRELL, MEGAN ELIZABETH (REVERCOMB) Megan Correll of Middleton, died Sunday, Aug. 23, 2015 at home with her family. Her close and loving family already miss her enormously. She is survived by her husband, Nicolas "Nick" Correll; her sons, Emmett Cole and Henry Paul; her Father and Mother, Henry (Kathleen McCarthy) Revercomb of Madison; her brother, Nathan Revercomb; her father and mother in-law, Paul and Anne Marie Correll of Cross Plains, Wis.; her sister and brother in-law, Camilla (Correll) and Kevin Biehn of Stillwater, Minn. and their children; her uncle and aunt, Gary and Pamela Revercomb of Cazenovia, NY; cousins, Laura and Jake Revercomb and family; her uncle and aunt, Augie and Carol (McCarthy) Perry of Prescott, Ariz.; cousins, Sarah (Perry) /husband Rob Diestler and Adam Perry; and uncle and aunt, Dan and Estelle McCarthy of Austin, Texas. Megan had a sparkling personality and packed a lot of living into her 39+ years! She enjoyed making and sustaining many very close and loyal friendships. It started early in grade school and high school at Madison-West, continued to UW-Madison, her year in France, Law school at University of Denver, and throughout her community and professional life. She never lost track of her friends. She was always active with many things besides school and career. As a young child, it was gymnastics and diving, finishing 1st in City diving at age 10. In high school, it was soccer and volleyball. In college she always made time to party with friends and spent her junior year in France. She also spent several months travelling the east coast of Australia on her own, including leading a night scuba dive on the Great Barrier Reef. She even ran the Chicago Marathon one year. During Law school she spent a very full summer clerking for Chief Justice Shirley Abramson. In more recent years following her marriage to Nick on 17 September 2004, there have been many adventures with her close family, including trips to Florida, the Caribbean, annual trips to Cape Cod with the Revercomb's, and a very special Wisconsin lake house. She has even made time to help support A Fund for Women. In her professional life, she has been very committed to protecting the environment of Wisconsin wetlands as a lawyer for the Department of Natural Resources. She was very effective. You didn't want to be on the other side of an issue from Megan. Her strong determination and the unflinching commitment of her loving husband Nick helped extend her difficult battle with cancer. She was an inspiring example to many after she worked full time for over four years following a disastrous diagnosis of stage 4 breast cancer. Many thanks to the University of Wisconsin Cancer Carbone Center, and especially to Drs. Steve Howard and Ian Robbins along with several dedicated nurses for their expert treatment that also made this possible. Thanks also to Agrace hospiceCare that also provided immeasurable support in the last few weeks. Let's all remember Megan for how she lived. A Celebration of her Life will be held at FIRST UNITARIAN SOCIETY, 900 University Bay Dr., Madison from Noon until 4 p.m. on Saturday, August 29, 2015. In lieu of flowers, donations to Gathering Waters Inc, 211 S Paterson St # 270, Madison, WI 53703, would be greatly appreciated. We all have many happy memories of her. She was a very self-confident, accomplished and determined young woman with just enough mischief in her to make us all smile. May your happiest memories help you through this difficult time and carry you all in peace. We are sorry that we will be unable to attend the celebration of Megan’s life, but we will be with you in thoughts and prayers. Hugs, Joan & Bill Radue

I am lighting a candle of love for this beautiful, loving woman, mother, wife, and coworker. Bless your hearts, family and loved ones of dear Megan. What a treasure on Earth she provided us. My deepest condolences and most sincere compassion for your pain. We lost our little boy two years ago so we understand, in some small way, the pain and deep sadness you may be feeling. Please know your dearest momma will always be with you, in your heart and minds, for your life. I pray she is supporting you and helping you in all that you do, today and forever. Deepest love, Lisa Helmuth (from Megan's DNR Family)

I've worked with Megan during the past several years. Her dedication and tenacity were inspiring, and she brought a fun attitude to some not-so-fun episodes. We'll all miss her. Will Stites, Wis. Rapids

Megan dear.......I hold many fond memories of you when we worked together on AFFW events......I always loved your spirit, your energy, your kindness, and your zest for life. I remember when I first heard that cancer had entered your body, tears rolled down my cheeks with sadness and disbelief - how could that happen to you, a young woman with such strength and health. I know that you lived out the next few years being the great mom you are, the devoted wife to Nick, and the loving daughter and loyal friend who will always be remembered as a shining angel. With love and prayers for you and your family. Nancy Young
