LODI-Joseph L. Dettman, age 92, passed away on Friday, July 17, 2015 at the Ridges, Lodi. He was born on August 30, 1922 on a farm in rural Westpoint, the son of Henry and Theresa (Neumaier) Dettman. Joe worked as an operating engineer of heavy equipment and was a 50 year union member since 1964. He loved his Harley and enjoyed the open road. Joe is survived by his sisters Edna Millas and Dolly Mitchell; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three sisters, Verna Koepp, Martha Nelson , Helen Geier and three brothers, Bill, Herbert and Walter. Private family graveside services will be held at a later date. A short video I put together from photos his sister my grandmother Helen Geier and her sister Dolly had. I had the opportunity to spend some time with Joe in his last year, and found him a real laid back nice gentleman. His early reminisces I had the chance to record for a family video on the Dettman family, and will be something I and hopefully all Dettman descendents will treasure always.
