Obituary
MADISON-Larry D. Strangstalien, age 79, in Madison, passed away at his home on Friday, Aug. 21, 2015, surrounded by his family. He was born in Coon Valley, Wis., on April 11, 1936, the son of Julian and Gladys Strangstalien. He married Donna Miller on Sept. 29, 1956, at St. John Catholic Church in Waunakee. Larry was employed for 32 years at Certco, retiring in 1998. He enjoyed golfing and hunting with his family and friends at the family cabin in Briggsville. Larry also enjoyed the fly-in fishing trips to Canada with family and friends. Larry is survived by his wife, Donna; four children, Kristi (Pat) Leahan, Greg (Amy) Strangstalien, Lori (John) Brabender and Jon (Kristin) Strangstalien; nine grandchildren, Shawna Ajdini, Dustin Leahan, Lindsay (Logan) Strander, Alyssa Strangstalien, Danielle (fiance' Mike Herlihy) Brabender, Jerrid (Barbara) Brabender, and Tyler, Trevor and Cameron Strangstalien; four great-grandchildren, Ariana, Adrian, Emma and Hunter; two sisters, Avonelle Kissack and Shirley Nelson; sisters-in-law, Kathleen (Dale Schmidt) Bauhs and Ileen (Dave) Williamson; and brother-in-law, Lloyd (Eva) Miller. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Harlan; sister, Jean; grandson, Nicholas Leahan; and mother and father-in-law, Herman and Armella Miller. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. DENNIS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 505 Dempsey Rd., Madison, at 11 a.m., on Tuesday, Aug. 25, 2015. Burial will be held at Highland Memory Gardens. Visiation will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Dr., Madison, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m., on Monday Aug. 24, 2015, and at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Home Health United – Hospice or St. Dennis Catholic Church. My father used to work with his neighbor Gordon Bauhs selling Jewel Tea products. How rich a life Larry must have had. We loved St. Dennis Catholic Church, too.
