Mariette V Coffman

MADISON-Mariette Coffman, age 92, met her Lord and Creator face to face on Monday, Aug. 24, 2015, leaving behind this world of health issues and pain, at the Belmont Nursing and Rehab Center. She was born Mariette Van den Steene on Dec. 15, 1922, in Belgium. After spending a number of years in an internment camp during World War II, she met and married "Doc" Ken Coffman. They came to the United States, making stops in Pennsylvania and Ohio, establishing their home in the Oregon and Madison area. Mariette worked for Madison Radiologists for twenty years, retiring after her husband passed away in 1983. She remained in contact with the staff then to the present date, and kept close friendships with her co-workers Kathy, Marge, and Bev. She was a member and an officer of an international secretaries group where she created many lasting friendships. Mariette returned to Belgium for a short stay but then came back to the Madison area to stay, celebrating Christmas, 1983 in a borrowed apartment. She went to work for Fr. William DeBock as his secretary/housekeeper, following him from St. James in Madison to St. Joseph's in East Bristol. Mariette then went to work at American Family, retiring in January, 2003. Mariette is survived by her stepsister and husband, Marja DeWachter and Loui Wouters of Antwerpen, Belgium; her "Boy", Rex the cat; her "kids", Kathy and Ron Siewert of Madison; her husband's family, Bob Sheldon of Findlay, Ohio, and Leah and Ron Goltz of Plymouth, Minn.; and many friends she acquired on her various yearly trips all over the world.
