Keith Arnold Sorenson

MONONA-Keith A. Sorenson, age 74, passed away in his wife's loving arms and surrounded by his family on Saturday, Aug. 22, 2015, after fighting the courageous battle of cancer and Alzheimer's disease. He was proud to serve in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Panama. Keith was a real estate icon for 50 years, serving mostly Monona and Dane County. He obtained his real estate license in 1964 and started out with Empire Realty in Madison. In 1967 he opened his own real estate business, Passport Realty. Over the years the business would grow to three offices. In 1998, he sold his business to Century 21 Affiliated. Keith enjoyed working with sellers and buyers verses running a business. He and partner/wife, Carole had the most listings sold for Century 21, putting them in the top 1% nationwide. Keith became winner of multiple prestigious awards for real estate excellence. The highlights of his career were, becoming part of the Board of Directors of Madison Board of Realtors, winning the Centurion Award 38 times, plus many other top awards. Keith was a member of the Elk's Club, Monona Businessman, East Side Club and many others. One of his proudest achievements was sponsoring the Monona Pee Wee football program. Keith and Carole enjoyed traveling from Canada to remote parts of Mexico. He loved Florida and California, especially where he wintered in Florida these past years. Keith loved his 4th of July parties with people he loved. Keith enjoyed vacationing with his wife and his favorite pastime, playing Blackjack. Keith also loved golf, bowling and softball. The softball team and their wives became a second family. He was an avid Packers and Badgers fan, rarely missing a game. Keith is survived by his wife, Carole (Hamburg); son, Kirk (Kristin) Sorenson and their children, Natalie, Charlie and Audrey; Lynnda (Duane) Ehlke and their children, Halle and Shelby; Kaaren (Ryan) Burgwald and their children, Kasey, Kylie and Kody; and step-daughter, Sheri Nelson and son, Timothy; step-granddaughters, Christy TeRonde and Vera TeRonde; brothers-in-law, Donald (Joy) Hamburg and James Hamburg; sister-in-law, Joanne McCuskey; plus several cousins, second family softball team and wives, along with numerous friends. He loved them all. He was preceded in death by his parents, Solveig and Hans Sorenson; granddaughter, Carlee Anna Ehlke; sister, Lynnda Lu Sorenson; uncles, Harold and John Myrold; and aunt, Eleanore Nygaard. Funeral services will be held at TRINITY LUTHERAN CHURCH, 1904 Winnebago St., Madison at 11 a.m., on Wednesday, Aug. 26, 2015. Visitation will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Dr., Madison, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 25, 2015, and at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Wednesday.
