SUN PRAIRIE- Mary Ann McCauley, age 87, of Sun Prairie, passed away on Saturday, Aug. 15, 2015, at Agrace HospiceCare in Fitchburg. She was born on Jan. 22, 1928 in Richland Center, the daughter of Homer and Agnes Madsen. She graduated from Richland Center High School, where she was a member of the cheerleading squad. Following her graduation, Mary attended the UW-Madison. On Aug 10, 1947, she was united in marriage with Roland E. McCauley in Richland Center. Mary worked at the Dane County Courthouse as she helped put her husband through graduate school. Her biggest joy was raising her three sons and spending time with her family. Mary volunteered with the PTA in her children's local schools, was a den mother for the cub scouts and delivered meals for the Salvation Army. One of her greatest pleasures was watching her three boys participate in various sports, especially basketball. Mary was later blessed with eight grandchildren, whom she loved dearly, along with seven great-grandchildren. Mary had a beautiful singing voice and loved to play the piano! She was very active in her church and was the youth choir director for many years. She was an exceptional Bridge player and loved to be out in the sun, swimming, socializing and sunbathing. Mary was a superb cook and everyone felt welcome in her home. She was a fun loving social butterfly who loved to dance with her husband in a local dance club. Mary enjoyed wintering in Deltona, Florida for 24 years, and many other vacations with family and close friends. She had a warm and friendly nature and a kind and giving heart. Mary is survived by her sons, Bruce (Carol) McCauley of Livermore, California, Mark (Janet) McCauley of Onalaksa, and Tim (Nancy) McCauley of Middleton; eight grandchildren, Justin (Juli) McCauley, Briana (Mitch) Nairn, Jared (Jill) McCauley, Tyler (Jen) McCauley, Kayla (Matt) Schwein, Shane, Erin and Shannon; seven great-grandchildren; sisters, Bonnie Jourdan and Joan (Kenny) Davidson; sister-in-law, Edie McCauley; and many nieces and nephews. Mrs. McCauley, was a mentor for me my entire life...she will be missed, although I believe Mary probably decided "enough of all this business." Heartfelt condolences to Bruce, Mark, Tim and families during this soulful time.

Dear Bruce, Mark, Tim and families - I am so sorry to hear of the passing of your dear mother. I have many memories of growing up a few houses down from the McCauley's and remember your mom & dad like it was yesterday. They were wonderful, kind and happy people and always welcomed us into their home. May God bless you and your families during this sad time and grant you peace in the days ahead. I will keep you all in my prayers. Meg (Nicolay) Taylor

Sending condolences to the McCauley families. Mary Ann was an Avon customer of mine. One time when I delivered an order to her house when she was in the middle of a Bridge game. She offered to invite me in for a bloody Mary. A very personable lady. God bless, and my thoughts & prayers are with you. Joy Reininger a school classmate of Bruce & Carol's

I am so sorry for your loss Bruce, Mark and Tim. Your mom was my church choir director and played bridge with my mom. She was one of the prettiest, kindest and classiest woman I have ever met. Thinking of all of your family at this difficult time. Warmly, Marcy Rekers Braucht

Mrs. McCauley was such a kind and gentle soul as she led us in the Angel Choir at the United Methodist Church. She always made me feel so included and worthy as I came to each practice, and her joyful leadership made the difference in my young life, as a youngster in Sun Prairie! I am so grateful that in the past year, I could express to her my gratitude. She was a gem of a lady!
