Elizabeth Therese Bennett

Bennett, Elizabeth "Betty" MADISON-Elizabeth "Betty" Bennett, age 68, joined a family reunion of angels on Sunday, Aug. 9, 2015, after a long fight with diabetes. The youngest of Fred and Irene (Judd) Triggs, she was born on March 10, 1947. Betty married Dan M. Bennett Sr. on May 21, 1966, and had her first son, Dan Bennett Jr. in 1967. She lost her second son, John Joseph at birth in May of 1968, and her husband in December of 1968. Never giving up, she strived forward and had her third son, Jeremy Scott Bennett on June 17, 1971. Betty met her lifelong partner and soul-mate, Ron Hauge in 1975, who she lost to cancer on June 17, 2008. Throughout her life, Betty had seen many ups and downs, but the tragedies she had lived through only seemed to make her stronger and try harder. Betty built a business of putting shelving in libraries after helping Ron with his salvage business for years. Known to some as "Theresa", she was family oriented, always telling stories of her life, accomplishments, as well as failures and tragedies. Betty's life lesson was to never give up. Betty is survived by her son, Dan Bennett (Rachel Page) and her youngest son, Jeremy (Samantha) Bennett; six grandchildren, Diana (Jett) Tillack, Kevin and Christopher Bennett and Logan, Hunter and Tristan Page; great-grandchildren, J.T. and Jonathan; many nieces and nephews; and many friends she's created bonds with over time. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dan Sr.; soul-mate of 30 plus years, Ron Hauge; son John Joseph; and siblings, Joe, Patricia, Gerald, James, Jerome, Larry, Terry and Paul. A celebration of life will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Dr., Madison, from noon until 4 p.m., with a time for sharing at 3 p.m., on Saturday, Aug. 15, 2015.
