Joining this family was, and is, one of the best things that happened to me in my life. He was a good man, father and grandfather - and I hope that I gave him happiness in his lifetime. Lots of great memories.
One of my favorite memories is when he stopped in after church one day. My house is always a disaster - just who I am - and I'm sure it was that day. He just smiled at me and handed me this poem and walked out the door. I just burst into tears - it just warmed my heart, I will just print some of it...
Love - Variation on a Theme
If I live in a house of spotless beauty with everything in its place, but have not love, I am a housekeeper - not a homemaker.
...
Love leaves the dust in search of child's laugh.
Love smiles at the tiny fingerprints on a newly cleaned window.
Love wipes away the tears before it wipes up the spilled milk.
Love picks up the child before it picks up the toys.
...
Thank you Bob, you probably never realized how much this meant to me. Love you.

Mr, Barr,
I bought my first real motorcycle from you when I was a kid back in 1982. It was probably the best transaction I have ever had. Your honesty and courtesy set the standard for me. Thank you for all you did.
