Obituary
Jones, Eldon "EJ"
OREGON-Eldon "EJ" Jones, age 76, of Oregon, passed away on Friday, July 17, 2015, surrounded by his loving family at Agrace HospiceCare in Fitchburg. He was born on April 10, 1939, in Madison, the son of William and Alice (Fisch) Jones. He was united in marriage to Evelyn "Frankie" Young on April 18, 1959, in Pratteville, Ala., while stationed at Maxwell Air Force Base in Montgomery, Ala. Eldon enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1957 through 1961. After being discharged, he joined the Air National Guard full time with the 115th Fighter Wing at Truax Field where he achieved the rank of Chief Master Sergeant during a 37 1/2 year military career. "EJ" started as a tactical aircraft maintenance technician and rose through the ranks to become Branch Chief, Flight Line and Maintenance Operations, keeping F-102 Delta Daggers, A-10 Warthogs and F-16 Falcons in the air. He was a member and trustee of People's United Methodist Church in Oregon and the Oregon Masonic Lodge No. 151. Eldon was a proud part-owner of the Green Bay Packers. He enjoyed watching the Packers, Badgers, Brewers and NASCAR, especially Dale Earnhardt, playing cards and taking care of the flowers at home and at church. Eldon loved traveling in the RV with Frankie and his greatest joy was spending time with his family. He was a kind-hearted, funny, faithful man and all who knew him loved his quick wit laughter and his commitment to his family, friends and co-workers. He was loved by all. Eldon is survived by his wife, Evelyn "Frankie"; children, Terri (Tom) Carow of Albany, Brenda (Dan) Linley of Oregon, and Patti (Russ) Quandt of Madison; nine grandchildren, MSgt. Annie (Chris) Davis (currently serving in Afghanistan), Paul Carow, Joey Carow, Erika, Amber and Kayla Linley, Liz Sass, Mary and Emily Quandt; five great-grandchildren, Morgan and Savannah Davis, Jordyn Carow and Lexi Carow and Levi Jarvis; brothers, Harold (Ann) Jones, William (Shirley) Jones, Robert (Shirley) Jones, David (Evelyn) Jones, Dale (Carol) Jones, Gary (Fran) Jones and Marvin (Kathy) Jones; sisters, Betty (Steve) Jicinsky and Kathy (Greg) Statz; sister-in-law, Virginia Fischer; and many loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Mary Burke; infant sister, Dorothy; brothers, Ronald and Joe Jones; brother-in-law, Paul "Ray" Fischer; and sisters-in-law, Della Jones and Barbara Jones. Funeral services will be held at PEOPLE'S UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, 103 Alpine Parkway, Oregon, at 11 a.m., on Wednesday, July 22, 2015.
