Obituary
CROSS PLAINS, WI – Harlan G. Walden, age 80, passed away peacefully at Gladys' Place, in Plymouth, MN, on Tuesday, Jul. 21, 2015 after battling courageously with Alzheimer's. He was born on Apr. 26, 1935 in Monroe, WI to George H. and Clara F. Walden. He graduated from Blanchardville High School in 1953, and went on to attend trade school to hone his many skills. Harlan was an extremely hard worker throughout his life and demonstrated his many abilities through his work as a relator, salesman, and recruiter. Harlan, and his wife, Ann were loyal members at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church and the Elks Club in Madison and enjoyed spending many weekends there with friends. From his high school football days until well into his life, Harlan enjoyed living a very active lifestyle including many rounds of golf. While in California, Harlan picked up an interest in aviation that led him to gain his own pilot's license and a love for flying. Harlan and Ann relished spending Saturdays with their favorite team, the Wisconsin Badgers. Summers were spent travelling in their motor home and playing cards. He was preceded in death by his devoted wife Ann, his parents, and his brothers Vernus and Herbert Walden. Harlan is survived by his three loving daughters Kathleen Nelson (Bill) of Minneapolis, Mary Lehrer of Madison, and Lynn Eve (John) of Cumming, GA, his sister Jean Rufenacht of New Glarus and his eight grandchildren, Nick, Patrick, Paul, Eric, Natalie, Alex, Kyle, and Joel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. FRANCIS XAVIER CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2947 Thinnes Street, Cross Plains at 10:30 AM on Saturday, July 25, 2015 with Father Thomas Kelley presiding. I only knew Harlan a short time when he lived @Heritage of Middleton. He had a great smile, he enjoyed the music and dancing and some of the other activities we had there. My name is Dawn Olson, i was an activities asst. when Harlan was there. He always had a smile for me. He told me that he liked the pancakes at C's in Middleton. May your wonderful memories of your father help comfort you during this sad time. I will always have a special place in my heart for Harlan. Take Care, Dawn Olson.

It was an honor to care for Harlan these past two months. I loved hearing his stories about his travels, living in California, and meeting Ann. The Gladys' Place family will miss his presence.

Dear Kathy, Mary and Lynn - these past few years must have been difficult but I hope your memories will bring you peace - and in time, some joy. I had some good times with sleep overs at your house...horseback riding...your dad (and mom) were always good to me! Cindy (Riddle) Way
