The world has lost a good man...one from a simpler time and place, who was exactly who he appeared to be, and lived exactly as he knew was right. His quiet presence and steady hand helped our family do things and go places that would never have otherwise been possible. We will miss him...our dog-sitter and handyman, our uncle, brother and brother-in-law, and the closest thing to a father/grandfather that any of the 3 of us had. As part of our lives, so many others knew and loved him too...he was a Lafollette supporter, an OSHP regular, and a tiki porch fixture. All he asked in return was to be included in the world of those he loved...and of course, to spend time with his faithful Otto.
Vern, you have left an indelible imprint on our lives and our hearts, and in the future when we do great things or small, you will live on in those moments. You will always be the brother of my heart.

My sincere sympathy to Vern's family. Vern and I were classmates of the
class of 1961 at Lone Rock High Sjchool. Vern and I had many classes to gether and played on the football team. I always considered Vern to be a good friend of mine during our High School years. The last time I saw Vern was at the Kohl Center at a Badger Basketball game a couple of years ago. We has a very nice visit. He will be sadly missed by all.
