Jackson, Clifford Henry
MADISON-Clifford Henry Jackson, passed away the morning of Tuesday, July 21, 2015. He was born in Woodman, Wis., to Clyde and Carrie (Ellis) Jackson, on Dec. 30, 1922. Clifford served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was stationed in the Pacific theater. He married Rosemary Birchman on Aug. 2, 1952, and they had four children. Clifford was employed by Wisconsin Bell for 39 years and began his career as a lineman in southwest Wisconsin, living in Darlington and moving to Madison in 1966, and retired on the test board in Madison in 1985. When his children were young he enjoyed going to Holy Rosary grade school in Darlington to demonstrate how a telephone worked. Clifford also enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren participate in sports. He was a lifelong Green Bay Packers fan and an avid golfer. Clifford was a member of the Telephone Pioneers, Darlington Fire Department, Darlington Country Club, and VFW Post No. 7591 in Madison. Clifford is survived by his wife, Rosemary; son, Dan (Jayne) Jackson of Madison; daughters, Sue (Bob) Schaefer of McFarland, Nancy (Greg) Adkins of Beaver Dam, and Judy (Tim) Testolin of Madison; grandchildren, Lauren Jackson, Kara (Tim) Clement, Megan (fiancé, Patrick) Schaefer, Jake Schaefer, Brad (Karen) Adkins, Scott Adkins, Stefanie (Brent) Wagner, Tony (Laura) Testolin and Sam Testolin; great-grandchildren, Hailey and Tanner Testolin and Henry Clement. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Delores Beckington, June Curley and Bernice Edwards. A memorial gathering will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m., on Saturday, July 25, 2015, with military honors at 1 p.m. The family wishes to thank the nursing staff at the Veterans Home in King, Wis., who cared for Clifford over the past year. Dear Jackson Family,
