Sandy, Steve, Chrissy and families, I am so truly sorry for this huge loss. Sandy, I will always remember your dad with that quiet, sly smile that told way more than his words. Even though I didn't know him well, he was a very comforting, friendly presence. I remember his questioning our sanity as we played board games with our dogs as partners, and countless other things. The year of the Datsun and Camaro....I am still apologizing to my mother on a regular basis. My thoughts and prayers are with you in such a difficult time. Blessings to you all~

My favorite "thursday guy" at SCC's men's days..favorite memory: convincing Dr. Bob to go on cruises as dance host & having to tailor all the new clothes he bought. Helping him match colors that his color-blindness couldnt do. Honored to have known him.
See you on the back nine, Dr Bob...

I studied under the same professor that Bob did, K.U. Smith. Bob had already finished his PhD by the time I started graduate school but he still came to get-togethers of fellow cybernetics students hosted by KU, which is how I got to know him. I was glad to have the opportunity to assist Bob with some ergonomics consulting work in the area of manufacturing. The added income helped put me through graduate school, and learned a lot. In graduate courses I teach today at the University of Connecticut, I still use examples of some of his approaches for identifying sources of muscle strain during repetitive work -- for example, Bob developed an electronic gadget that would display levels of muscle activity that could be videotaped alongside a worker performing the task. Design solutions could be worked out later following video review in slow motion. One of the nicest guys I have had the pleasure to know.
