Schmelzkopf, Sandra Sue
MADISON- Sandra Sue (Stoflet) Schmelzkopf, age 72, of Madison, passed away on Saturday, June 27, 2015, at Agrace HospiceCare after a courageous fight with cancer. She was born on Oct. 29, 1942, in Madison, the daughter of Gordon and Virginia (Ginger) Stoflet. On Oct. 10, 1964, Sandra married Dennis Edward Schmelzkopf at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Madison. Sandra was a very caring and giving person. She always put the needs of others before her own. Sandra enjoyed quilting, knitting, bird watching, gardening, fishing and playing cards and dominos with her group of friends. After her retirement, she enjoyed helping to run the Caribou Bar with her family. Sandra also enjoyed making trips to the casino with her family. Most of all she loved spending time with her family, especially her two grandchildren, Taylor and Lauren. Sandra is survived by her children, Mark Schmelzkopf, Julie Schmelzkopf and Jennifer (Mark) Tremmel; grandchildren, Taylor and Lauren Tremmel; six of her brothers and sisters, Linda (Dave) McCormick, Margie (Bob) Shafer, Chuck (Nan) Stoflet, Bob (Mary) Stoflet, Cathy Evans and John Stoflet (Sandi Jo); as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; brother, Gordy; and infant brother, Glenn. Memorial services will be held at HOLY CROSS LUTHERAN CHURCH, 2670 Milwaukee St., Madison, at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, July 10, 2015, with the Rev. Bernt Tweit presiding. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation will take place at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Dr., Madison, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m., on Thursday, July 9, 2015, and also at the church from 12:30 p.m. until the time of service on Friday. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or Agrace HospiceCare. Sandra's family would like to thank the staffs of St. Mary's Hospital, University Hospital and Agrace HospiceCare for their tremendous care and support during Sandra's fight with cancer.
