Obituary

Levander, Gary Nils MCFARLAND-Gary Nils Levander, age 63, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, June 10, 2015 at his home. He was born on March 20th, 1952, in Madison, the son of Nils C. and Shirley J. Levander. Gary grew up in Monona and graduated from Monona Grove High School in 1970. He then returned to the Madison area as a Contractor Sales Account Manager for Menards until his retirement in January of 2015. Gary will be remembered for his time spent with family, his outgoing personality and his ability to make people laugh. He also enjoyed traveling, his love of classic cars, riding his Harley with friends, being a member of the Elks Club, an active Shriner, and always enjoyed a good cigar. What a great loss this man will be to everyone. I used to work with Gary at Menards in Madison, Wi. He was such a jolly person. Had an amazing heart. Always smiling. Always sneaking up on me and making me smile. How unexpected. I have been meaning to stop in and say hi to him at Menards. Life is so very short. Even shorter when something like this happens. My heart goes out to his whole famy. So sorry for your great loss. Sincerely, Tammie Konopi

Gary was my rep for Menards East for the last 4 years. I always looked forward to seeing Gary when he stopped in to say hi once a week. Anyone that Id ask if they knew Gary, when I went into the Eastside Menards, always stated what a wonderful guy he was and the people would always have a smile in return of me asking. In his retiring from Menards he had stated his plans of travel. The last I talked to Gary he pretty much sounded like he had his winter all laid out to stay with family and friends in a warmer climate. I mentioned to please stop in anytime... I’ve personally missed Gary in doing so and this was a shocker to hear of his passing. Gary will always be in my thoughts and always missed, my thought and prayers go to his Family. Sincerely Dave Marty

I knew Gary for many years and he was always a great guy to be around: he loved to laugh and make other people laugh. Gary and I sent each other goofy cards for Halloween or Christmas. Occasionally, we would call each other and shoot the breeze. Gary's loss is felt by his friends in both Wisconsin and Arizona. During his brief time, he made others feel better about themselves. He made the world a better place.
