Obituary

Dobie, Arlene E. MADISON-Arlene E. Dobie went home to be with the Lord on Monday, June 29, 2015, at the age of 91. She was born in the Township of Cross Plains on June 4, 1924, to Oswin and Cora (Lee) Braun and married Robert Dobie on Sept. 5, 1947. She worked at Oscar Mayer for 32 years, retiring in 1984. Arlene is survived by six children, Kenneth (Barbara) Russell of Madison and Barbara (Brad) Vlasak of Baraboo from a first marriage and Ronald (Julie) Dobie of Stoughton, Larry (Barbara) Dobie of Madison, Sherry (Conlee) Cox of DeForest, and Scott Dobie of Glenview, Ill.; six grandsons; six granddaughters; eighteen great-grandchildren; one brother, Roger of Madison; and two sisters, Delma Bastheimer of Verona, and Margaret Jacobs-Munthe (Steve) of Verona. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert; son, James; brothers, Delbert, Roland and Marlin Braun; and sister, Carol Haugen. A celebration of Mom's life will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Dr., Madison, at 1 p.m., on Thursday, July 2, 2015. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until the time of the service on Thursday. The family wishes to thank daughters, Barbara and Sherry for their loving care of Mom, as well as the staffs of Artisan Senior Living in DeForest and Meriter Hospital 8 Tower. I have wonderful memories of my Grandma taking us (my cousins Rhonda and Robin, Brother David and Uncle Scott) camping at Devils Lake and Silver Spring Camp Grounds. Grandma taught me great family values that will be with me forever!! Love you lots!!

So sorry I didn't make it to the celebration of life for Arlene. She was always such a pleasant friend. We spent many days walking through the neighborhood. We had good talks around her kitchen table drinking coffee. Ragna Gotrik
