Schuetz, Leslie Erwin
McFARLAND- Leslie Erwin Schuetz, age 87, was called to his eternal home on Saturday, June 20, 2015. Leslie was born on April 30, 1928, in Middleton, the son of Erwin and Ingborg (Ustad) Schuetz. He married the love of his life, Reva Hustad, on Oct. 24, 1946, at St. Bernard Catholic Church and embarked on a wonderful life. Together Reva and Les raised their six children at Schuetz's Orchard Hill in McFarland, Wis. Leslie was proud to have been employed at Phillips 66 and Ohio Medical from where he had retired to work full time on his orchard. Leslie especially enjoyed the times with his family at their cabin on Castle Rock Lake. He loved bringing his family together for boating, sailing, skiing, swimming, hunting, fishing, campfires and just good times. He enjoyed attending and watching the activities of his children and grandchildren. He was always there to cheer and support his family. He was an avid Packers and Badgers fan. He took many trips out west with his wife and family to visit the mountains and national parks of Wyoming, Colorado, Montana and Alaska. Our Dad was a man of many talents as he was a builder, welder, mechanic, farmer and orchardist. There was nothing he couldn't build or fix. He is survived by his children, Gary (Barb), Kathleen (Barry), Mike (Ann), Dennis (Patti), Steve (Cindee) and Jeff (Barb); grandchildren, Gina, Andy, Jason, Sarah, Bryan and Kevin; 14 great-grandchildren; and siblings, Phyllis Roth, Bob, John, Barb, and Janet Hummel. Leslie was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and siblings, Paul, Margaret Loomis, and Don. A Memorial Gathering will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m., on Tuesday, June 23, 2015. Private burial will be at Middleton Junction Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Agrace HospiceCare or a charity of your choice. A special thank you to the staff at St. Mary's Hospital and Agrace HospiceCare for the loving care given to our Dad, Grandpa and Great Grandpa. Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com.

I moved to the house across the street from Les and Reva 3 years ago. It was such a pleasure and honor to have known both of them. They both had lots of great anecdotes about family, the cabin, and trips they had been on. Les was very proud of his siblings, children and grandchildren for their many successful endeavors. He enjoyed taking out an ancient family Bible with a surprising and prestigious origin. Even though Les used a walker the whole time I knew him, it was obvious that he had been very capable and strong in younger years. In fact, Les could still be seen snow-blowing and mowing his grass at 87. When I used my chainsaw to cut some tree branches for him, he insisted that I hook the branches over his walker handles so he could walk them out to the curb himself. What a noble guy. My mom and I enjoyed visiting him and receiving visits in return, and will miss him a lot.

My brother Les was married and out of the house when I was born. We did not live together, but my brother loved his family, tried to make any sibling times together special( including Packer Games, when I became a Vikings fan).. I think he is happy to be with his wonderful wife Reva now. I will continue to say prayers for the Schuetz family and their loss. My brother did have a long happy life though,and I am happy about that.

Thanks Les for so many great childhood memories whether it was at the cottage or weekends picking apples they will last with me forever. RIP
